On the first Saturday in December we went with some friends of ours to pick out our trees together. The lot just happened to be right around the corner from our house. They had beautiful trees to choose from for a really good price.
Aust was pretty excited to help pick out our tree.

Here is our Christmas tree on top of our car. This is the first year since we have been married that we've had a real tree. It was so fun to pick it out.

We made a paper chain this year. Instead of just ripping off a piece of paper every day, there is a thought about Christ, a scripture, & a short activity to go with it on the inside of each chain. It has helped keep our focus this year on the true meaning of Christmas.

Since this is the first Christmas in our house, it's the first time we've been able to hang lights. Luke did an awesome job hanging the lights. He even put lights on our palm trees.
We went to Old Sacramento to watch the Festival of Lights again this year.
They read The Night Before Christmas poem and put it to lights.
Our friends had us over to decorate Christmas cookies. I think Aust liked eating the frosting the most.
We drove around looking at Christmas lights in an area in East Sacramento called "The fabulous forties." It's a few streets full of homes that look like they are straight out of a movie. It reminds me of the kind of neighborhood that you could raise your kids in & let them be out playing night games together. The homes are beautiful and they have so much character. A lot of the homes are decked out in Christmas lights and they even have lights hanging above the street as you drive through.
